9 Ways To Multipurpose Your Beauty Products

by | Jan 31, 2021 | MAKEUP

I find making one product do several different jobs super handy when you’re in a pinch for time or wanting to pack a tiny beauty bag for an overnight trip.

1. Concealer as foundation and eyeshadow primer

Liquid concealers can double up well as foundation for all over the face when needed. Start with well-prepped skin and loads of hydration, then dab the concealer around the face; mostly in the centre areas and quickly blend it out.

To prime the eyelids, use a ‘tackier’ pot style concealer if you have it, failing that liquid will do. Just apply a thin layer and blend well. Keep in mind this is more for covering redness and veins; concealer as primer won’t necessarily help with holding eyeshadow in place.

2. Eyeshadow for eyebrow colour

Why not! If you have an eyeshadow that matches your desired brow colour, try it in your brows with a small angled brow brush.

3. Mascara as eyeliner

Eyeliner dried up? Take an angled eyeliner brush and rub it in the mascara wand. Maybe clean it up by shaping the brush on the back of your hand before applying though. Apply to the lash line as you would regular liner. I’ve heard it lasts really well, and mascara is a product that’s already safe for use around the eyes… makes it an ideal substitute in a pinch!

4. Soap for brows

I do this at work on models, I use the old school Pear’s clear soap. That’s the key to this hack – you want a transparent bar. Mist on a face mist or setting spray directly onto the bar, rub the spoolie brush around to create a paste, and brush upwards into the brows. It holds really really well!

5. Bronzer / blush for the eyes

I always do this when I’m in a rush! After applying bronzer, dust some in the socket of your eye for definition. Then your blush can go on the lid of your eye for a pretty soft look. You don’t have to do both; either or works!

6. Lipstick as blush

This is a classic right?! We all know this one, my tip, to not get too much on the checks, it makes it difficult to blend out. Less is 100% more.  Apply your lipstick to the lips then take the product from there, dap your fingers to the lips and then cheeks; pat pat pat.

7. Clear brow gel for hair fly-aways

Trying out a sleek high ponytail? Tidy it up with your clear brow gel bush on those little flyaway hairs.

8. Moisturiser for makeup mistakes

Messed up your cat eyeliner or popping red lipstick line? Take a Q-tip or a sharp flat eye brush and dip into your moisturiser; it will wipe away the makeup without drying your skin.

9. Liquid lipstick as eyeliner and eyeshadow

If you fancy trying a new colour on the eyes; there are two ways you can use your liquid lipstick on the eyes. With an eyeliner brush, draw on winged eyeliner.  Keep in mind it will probably take longer to set than actual liquid eyeliner.

Second is a wash of colour, more like a liquid eye shadow.  Use a synthetic fluffy eyeshadow brush for this, and ensure to work quickly to blend it over the eye.

What do you think of these ideas? Do you do some of these naturally anyway? Do you have anymore to add to the list?! I’d love to know – comment below!
