Clearly audio is nothing new – radio was here long before visual media. However podcasts have become hugely popular in the last few years, and with the recent launch of audio-based social media platform Clubhouse, I can’t help but feel audio is having a moment and going from strength to strength at an impressive rate!
I feel lots of people love audio because they can do another task whilst listening. I always play a podcast when chopping veggies for dinner, and there are some fabulous ones out there. I don’t want you all to miss out on the fun!
I have been listening to beauty podcasts for years, and the first one that kicked it off for me, and probably others, was the amazing girls at Fat Mascara!
Fat Mascara
Incredibly well-done podcast with great discussions, beauty news, and first-class guests. It’s hosted by NYC beauty journalists Jessica Matlin and Jennifer Sullivan; I have been listening to them for so long I feel like I know then! Maybe a tad cringe in places, but I don’t care! They deserve all the praise and good reviews they get.
Full Coverage
This one is recorded from LA, but both hosts are originally from England. Lindsey Kelk is an author with a healthy love for all things beauty, and Harry Hadfield is a celebrity makeup artist. They interview people and have a good chat about beauty treads and launches. It’s like listening in on a conversation between good friends.
Breaking Beauty
Coming from Canada, Breaking Beauty is hosted by two beauty journalists: Carlene Higgins and Jill Dunn. Interviewing founders from brands like Versed, Huda Beauty, Uoma Beauty and Kora Organics to name a few. They release weekly episodes, chatting beauty forecasts, holiday gift guides and more!
That Beauty Podcast
Broadcasting from my hometown of Sydney Australia, are fellow beauty writers Carli Alman and Bettina Tyrrell. I love it as some things they say are very relatable, additionally that accent makes me feel closer to home!
Outspoken Beauty
Over in London is Nicola Bonn with Outspoken Beauty. I first heard about Outspoken Beauty through Cher Webb, a makeup artist I follow, who is a regular guest on this podcast. Nicola is always down for a fragrance chat or honest talk between women regards subjects such as menopause and bladder weakness.
The Allure Podcast – The Science of Beauty
Allure Editor in Chief Michelle Lee co-hosts The Science of Beauty with Jenny Bailly, executive beauty director of Allure. Episodes are focused on specific topics such as shampoo, pores, hyperpigmentation etc, with experts jumping in to share useful information.
We Speak Beauty Podcast
Back over to the West Coast is We Speak Beauty by pro makeup artists Lottie Star and Lindsey Williams. This one is a bit more inside makeup artist talk, so if you’re in the industry, you’ll undoubtedly get a relatable kick from their ‘stories from set’, discussing the funny and stressful horrors that can happen behind the scenes.
